Section 8 Rental Assistance

Brunswick Housing AuthorityThe BHA’s Section 8 program consists of 453 Housing Choice Vouchers. Under this program, the Brunswick Housing Authority will make monthly housing assistance payments to a landlord on a client’s behalf. After a client receives a voucher and is briefed on guidelines to the rent levels that best suit their family, they can then go into the community and find an apartment, single family home, or mobile home that will pass our Housing Quality Inspection.Once a unit is secured, the client is required to pay at least 30% of their gross annual income toward the rent, or more, if the unit is more expensive than HUD guidelines. The Housing Authority inspects all units in the Section 8 Program on an annual basis and works with landlords to keep their buildings in good condition.
